Have all the lockdowns and restrictions made you feel tired of date nights at home? Do you need to spice things up? From vibrant quirky cities to peaceful rural escapes there are hundreds of beautiful places in the UK to treat that special someone. We’ve picked some of our favourites just for you.

1. Liverpool

Liverpool, you had us at hello! Liverpool is one of our all-time favourite cities not only does it feel energetic and new but it also brims with history and vibrant culture. With fun and quirky accommodation and no shortage of restaurants, museums, art galleries, and activities. It is so worth a visit!

Ever played crazy golf? Ghetto Golf is crazy golf with a twist located next to the popular Baltic Market. It is such a different and fun way to spend an evening! Each of the 18 holes is themed and there are so many unique nods to Liverpool for the locals to smirk at. There is a bar and street food available at the venue. Just a little FYI…you can drink the entire way around the course!

2. Lake District

With lots to see and do in the area if you are an active couple, who like the outdoors then this would be ideal for you. With many water sports available and breathtaking hikes, as well as the history of the area available it’s a beautiful place to explore.

Lake Windermere is the go-to destination for water sports in the Lake District. There are many marinas, sailing and windsurfing centres found on the shores. Don’t be nervous if you have never done anything like this before! If you want to give it a go there is a large selection of adventure activity companies, guides and instructors for all abilities based around the lake.

3. Whitby

We offended Whitby a little in our 5 must-visit UK Seaside Destinations blog. Oops! Whitby, we love you too. You’re perfect for a romantic weekend away. We have tried and tested this and loved every single second. With Blue Flag beaches, many attractions and arguably the worlds best fish and chips! If you love being by the sea, Whitby is the destination for you.

Calling all literature fans, Bram Stoker’s famous Dracula features the town. The vampire first comes ashore here from Transylvania in the guise of a black dog. When you visit, it’s not hard to see how Stoker got his inspiration from this hauntingly beautiful town.

4. The New Forest

Another one for the active couples, the New Forest has endless amounts to do and see. From mountain biking to walking, admiring the heather moors and wild horses to just wandering through the little villages. The New Forest has so much to offer and is even close to Southampton if you wanted to travel into the city. If you need to re-charge why not fall in love with the New Forest’s idyllic glades, open moors, and cliff top walks.

5. Edinburgh

Edinburgh is quickly becoming a popular city break choice because of its buzzing atmosphere and beautiful architecture. Edinburgh has the perfect mix of history and culture as well as nightlife and atmosphere for the evenings, making it one of the most well-rounded destinations available. There are so many quirky city apartments available and restaurants to discover. Failing that grab a deep-fried mars bar on your way back from the pub!

Stroll along the Royal Mile or wander around Princes Street Gardens and relax in the shadow of Edinburgh Castle.
