This tastefully modernised hotel is located in the quiet village of Eastchurch, the historic home of British aviation, and was where Winston Churchill learnt how to fly & the Wright brothers first took flight.

The village was also a romantic hideaway for Henry the Eighth and Anne Boleyn, much of the history echoes through the village with street names and local facilities (our own function room is named the Anne Boleyn suite). The village is surrounded by rolling countryside and is only a short distance from the islands popular beaches, yet is convenient enough to make an ideal base for the business visitor.

Isle Of Sheppey

The Isle of Sheppey nestles in the mouth of the mighty River Thames, less than 50 miles from London. Joined to the mainland by the Kingsferry Bridge, opened in 1960, and the new Sheppey Crossing; built in 2006 which crosses over The Swale River. The island is conveniently situated for day trips to the continent, sightseeing in historic Canterbury, Chatham or Rochester or bird watching on the island.

For the shopping lovers, Bluewater, Maidstone and the outlet centre in Ashford are within driving distance. The island has an area of 36 square miles (93 km2) Sheppey is derived from the ancient Saxon "Sceapige", meaning isle of sheep, and even today the extensive marshes which make up a considerable proportion of the island provide grazing for large flocks of sheep.

Our Gym Facilities

The Gym, Health and Spa, which is located to the rear of the Shurland, is an addition to the original hotel. There is a selection of both cardiovascular & resistance equipment, including steppers, treadmills, bikes, rowers, a leg extension, leg curl and seated row among others. The gym also includes two squash courts, a spa area with a marble steam room and Swedish sauna and Jacuzzi, which is free to residents throughout their stay. The spa area is a unisex area and is located at the back of the changing rooms that have key lockers and showers for your convenience. The air conditioned gym is manned at all times by a qualified instructor who can advise you as to the best workout for your needs and answer any questions you may have regarding the facilities. Beauty and Treatment The beauty and treatment room offers a wide range of health & relaxation packages. Kellie, our beauty therapist offers the following services: Massage Treatments Facials Manicures, pedicures and acrylic nails Waxing Eyebrow and Eyelash tinting Evening appointments available.

Restaurant & Public House

The public house and restaurant serves a wide range of food using organic and local produce. The new menu offers traditional ‘pub-grub’, a children’s menu and vegetarian options. Accommodation The Shurland Hotel has 17 rooms, ranging from standard to deluxe, single rooms, twinned rooms and doubles. We also have a Family room, waterbed honeymoon suite and 4-poster bedroom. Many of the rooms overlook the village church, rebuilt in 1431, which replaced the original church built in 1279. Function Rooms We have a range of function areas and rooms to cater for wedding receptions, parties, wakes, meetings and conferences. We offer a buffet service and have a private bar attached to our Anne Boleyn Suite on the second floor.
