Stratton Farm - Shepton Mallet
At Stratton Farm we offer self-contained Bed & Breakfast Accommodation with a quiet relaxed atmosphere and quality service.
We are close to the Royal Bath and West Showground at Shepton Mallet Somerset, and near to the A303.
We have now had our old stable barn converted in to a comfortable two bedroom holiday cottage which can sleep up to six people.
Stratton Farm is a 200 acre former dairy farm, and the Doble family have lived here for over 100 years. The guest rooms have seen many changes. In the past these rooms have, as their names imply, stored malt and cheese. The cheese was made downstairs and the large 'truckles' were hoisted to the store room by means of a pulley system that still exists today.
The malt room overlooks the stables, occupied by the family's horses, and calf sheds which are now used for general storage.
There are often sheep on the farm, there may be six pet ewes and lambs and during the winter months 200-300 sheep graze the fields. The beautiful cities of Bath and Wells are within easy driving distance as are Cheddar and Wookey, famous for gorges, cheeses and caves, and Glastonbury for the 'Tor', sheepskin and the festival! The rugged Dorset coast with picturesque villages is about an hour away.
Set in the beautiful and unspoilt countryside of Somerset, we offer you comfortable ensuite rooms with TV and tea/coffee making facilities, in the former Malt House and Cheese Room.
You can enjoy a breakfast of locally produced bacon, sausages and eggs or if preferred jams and marmalade on homemade bread.
The farmhouse faces south and looks towards the local landmark of Creech Hill. The Malt House and Cheese Room face west and have a lovely view across the fields to Evercreech Church.
Please do not hesitate to contact either Andrew or Karen for more information.
The old stable barn has been newly converted into a comfortable two bedroom holiday cottage which can sleep up to six people. The stables were originally used for the working farm horses and more recently for riding horses. The conversion has been sympathetically carried out to a very high standard and retains many of the original features including exposed timbers but has the modern conveniences of oil central heating and gas fired log burning stove.
Prices start from £200 per week. Short breaks and weekend breaks are also available.
Well behaved dogs are welcome for a small extra charge.
Stabling and grazing can also be provided if guests would like to also bring their horse to enjoy the beautiful and safe riding in our area.
We hope you enjoy your stay and will visit again.
